Meet Pen — the friendly pencil mascot you’ve been seeing in ClearHandoff, now with a name to match. From today, when Pen replies to a comment, you’ll see “Pen” as the author. Tag @pen in any comment to ask a follow-up — or keep using @AI, both work.
What Pen does
Pen is the AI assistant inside your drawing comment threads. Pin a comment on any feature, tag @pen in your message, and Pen replies in the thread with the full context of the drawing and the review findings.
A few examples of what you can ask:
- “Is our laser cutter precise enough that we can achieve this tolerance?”
- “Our CNC mill is broken — which alternative methods could we use to manufacture the part?”
- “What tolerance would you recommend for this bore?”
- “Is this feature fully dimensioned?”
- “What does this GD&T frame mean?”
- “What surface finish is reasonable for this bearing seat?”
Pen answers in the language you wrote in, references the specific feature at your pin location, and grounds every answer in what’s actually on the drawing.
How to use Pen
- Upload a drawing and run an AI Review
- Pin a comment on any feature, or reply to an existing comment or review
- Include @pen in your message
- Pen replies in the thread within a few seconds
Follow-up questions don’t cost extra credits — they’re included with your AI Review.
What Pen can see (and what it can’t)
Pen has real context for every question:
- The page your comment is pinned on — all views and text on that page
- All comments and reviews on the drawing
- The review profile used for the AI Review
- The exact location of your pin
Pen doesn’t see other drawings in your account, other pages of this drawing, external CAD files, or earlier drawing versions.

Pen is available on every plan. If you’re using ClearHandoff already, you don’t need to do anything — Pen shows up automatically in comments and reviews. If you’re new, upload a drawing, run an AI Review, and tag @pen in any comment.
