3D models: viewing and comments
Upload a STEP file and everyone you share it with reviews the model in the browser, with no CAD license and nothing to install.
Uploading a model
Drop a STEP file (.step or .stp) on the upload page, up to 50 MB.
- AP203, AP214 and AP242 exports work. Export an assembly as a single file: a STEP file that only refers to its parts in separate files holds no geometry.
- Preparing the model takes a moment, a large assembly up to a few minutes. The page updates by itself.
- Uploading a new version keeps the earlier ones. Each version is reviewed and approved on its own.
Looking around
Drag to rotate, scroll to zoom, and use the view cube or the home button to get back to a standard view.
- The Structure tab lists the parts of an assembly. Click a part to highlight it.
- Hide parts, or make them see-through, to reach what lies behind them.
- Hide the pins to see what is beneath them.
Commenting on the model
Click Comment, then the spot on the model your remark is about.
- The comment sits on that face and keeps the camera view you had, so opening it brings everyone to the same spot.
- Reply, mark a comment as resolved, and filter the list by open and resolved.
- Comments that are still open carry over to the next version.
PMI
When the STEP file carries PMI (an AP242 export with dimensions and tolerances), the PMI tab lists it and shows it on the model.
- Select a tolerance or a datum and the faces it applies to light up.
- Values are shown in the unit the CAD file states.
- A model without PMI is reviewed the same way, on its geometry.
