AI review for 3D models

The AI reads the STEP file itself and pins every finding to the face it is about, before your team looks.

What it checks

Without a profile, the standard review checks the model the way a senior design engineer would before release: can it be made, and can it be put together. Review profiles for 3D models.

  • Parts: features that are hard or impossible to make with the process the part is made for, such as machining, sheet metal or 3D printing.
  • Assemblies: parts that clash, do not fit together or cannot be assembled.
  • With a review profile for 3D models, it also checks against your rules.
  • A profile can carry reference documents, such as your design guide. The AI then checks the model against them and names the page a finding is based on.

Findings on the model

Each finding becomes a comment from Pen, pinned to the face it is about.

  • A finding that occurs in several places highlights all of them when you open it.
  • Reply to a finding or resolve it like any comment. A new review sees the discussion so far.
  • Findings are suggestions, not verdicts. Your team decides.

Credits and model size

A review costs credits by the size of the STEP file.

  • Up to about 120 KB: 10 credits.
  • Up to about 360 KB: 20 credits.
  • Up to about 620 KB: 30 credits.
  • A larger model is too large for an AI review for now. Write to support and we raise the limit for your team.

The example model
