Review Workflows
ClearHandoff supports three collaborative workflows: submitting your drawings for review, requesting drawings from others, and managing the revision cycle when changes are needed.
Submit Your Drawing for Review
Use this workflow when you've created a drawing and want feedback from colleagues, clients, or collaborators.

Upload
Go to your dashboard and upload the PDF or DXF drawing you want reviewed. Give it a clear name that your reviewers will recognize.
Run AI Review (Optional)
Before inviting human reviewers, run an AI review to catch obvious issues like missing tolerances or unclear dimensions. This saves your reviewers time. Learn more about AI Review
Share
Add reviewers by email or enable link sharing. Choose whether they should be Editors (can upload new versions) or Commenters (can only comment). Learn more about sharing
Review
Reviewers can click anywhere on the drawing to pin comments to specific locations. They can discuss issues in threaded replies and mark comments as resolved.
Decision
Reviewers submit a formal decision: Approve, Request Changes, or Comment. You'll receive an email notification when this happens.
Examples
Engineering team
An engineer uploads a bracket design before release. The team lead reviews it, requests tolerance changes, and approves the revised version.
Manufacturing company
A manufacturer receives a part drawing from a customer via email. Their sales contact uploads it to ClearHandoff and invites a manufacturing engineer and the customer. All three review it together, pinning questions and comments directly on the drawing.
Request Drawings from Others
Use this workflow when you need to receive a drawing from someone else - a customer, supplier, student, or colleague.

You Review
Review their submission: add pinned comments, run AI review, and submit your decision (Approve, Request Changes, or Comment).
Examples
Manufacturer
A manufacturer requests a drawing from their customer before quoting. The customer uploads their part drawing for manufacturability review.
Instructor
An instructor creates an upload request with multiple submissions enabled and sends it to their class of 15 students. Each student submits their assignment drawing, and the instructor reviews them one by one.
The Revision Cycle
After reviewing a drawing, you may request changes. This workflow covers how to request a revised version and continue the review process.

Request Changes
After reviewing a drawing, submit a 'Request Changes' decision with your feedback. Add pinned comments to highlight specific issues that need to be addressed.
Request New Version
Click 'Request new version' and enter the email of the person who should upload the revision. They'll receive an email with a direct upload link.
They Revise
The author makes changes and uploads the new version through the link you sent. The new version appears as a draft for review before publishing.
Re-review
Review the new version. Open comments from the previous version are carried over. Once satisfied, submit an 'Approve' decision to complete the cycle.
When you request a new version, the original author receives an email with a direct link to upload the revision. Open comments are automatically carried over to help track what still needs to be addressed.
Examples
Design iteration
A reviewer requests tolerance changes on a bracket design. They send a version request to the engineer, who uploads a revised drawing. The reviewer verifies the changes and approves.
Supplier feedback
A manufacturer reviews a customer's part drawing and asks them to loosen a ±0.05 mm tolerance on a clearance hole — it's overkill for a bolted joint and adds cost. The customer uploads a revised drawing, and the manufacturer approves it before quoting.
Review Decisions Explained
When submitting a review, you choose one of three decisions:
The drawing is ready. No issues found, or all previous issues have been addressed. This signals that the drawing can proceed to the next stage (manufacturing, submission, etc.).
Issues were found that need to be fixed. The drawing owner should address the feedback and upload a new version for another review cycle.
Feedback without a formal approval or rejection. Useful for early drafts, informal reviews, or when you want to provide input but aren't the final decision-maker.
Email Notifications
You'll receive an email when someone reviews a drawing you have access to. The email includes the reviewer's decision and a link to view the drawing.
You can turn off review notifications in your Profile settings.
