Review profiles for 3D models

A review profile tells the AI what to check in a model. Add one of these to your team and adjust it to your rules.

3D models

CNC Machining

Find internal corners a cutter cannot reach, deep holes and thin walls in the model.

Review the model for 3-axis CNC milling and drilling. Sharp internal corners: a milled pocket or groove needs an internal radius of at least 1 mm. Walls thinner than 1.5 mm, which chatter. Holes that are not standard drill or tap-drill sizes (ISO metric). Holes deeper than 5x their diameter. Features a 3-axis mill cannot reach, such as undercuts.

Sheet Metal

Check bend radii, holes near bends, bend reliefs and flange lengths in the model.

Review the model for sheet metal parts. Bend radii smaller than the sheet thickness. Holes and cutouts closer to a bend than 2x the sheet thickness plus the bend radius. Missing bend reliefs where a bend meets an edge. Flanges shorter than 4x the sheet thickness. Inconsistent sheet thickness within one part.

3D Printing

Check walls, overhangs and hole sizes in the model before it goes to the printer.

Review the model for FDM 3D printing. Walls thinner than 1.2 mm, or 2 mm where the part carries load. Overhangs steeper than 45° and bridges longer than 10 mm, which need support. Holes for screws 0.2 mm larger than nominal, since printed holes shrink. Small features that do not print reliably (pins under 2 mm, gaps under 0.5 mm). Parts that touch or overlap in an assembly.

Assembly Release

Check an assembly before release: clashes, part names, fasteners and, with PMI, missing tolerances.

Review the assembly before release. Parts that clash or touch where they should have clearance. Parts without a meaningful name or part number, and duplicate names. Fasteners that do not match their holes (thread size, length against the stack). When the file carries PMI: mating faces without a tolerance, and holes without a position tolerance.
