Meet Pen
Pen is ClearHandoff's AI drawing assistant. Pin a comment on your drawing, tag @pen, and Pen answers with full context of the drawing, the AI review findings, and where your pin sits on the sheet.
How to use Pen
- Upload a drawing and run an AI Review.
- Pin a comment on any feature, or reply to an existing comment or review.
- Include
@penin your message. - Pen replies in the thread within a few seconds, in the same language you wrote in.
Pen needs an AI Review to have run on the current drawing version first — that's what gives Pen the context to answer well. Learn about AI Review.
Example questions
Here are a few things engineers ask Pen:
- “Is our laser cutter precise enough that we can achieve this tolerance?”
- “Our CNC mill is broken — which alternative methods could we use to manufacture the part?”
- “What tolerance would you recommend for this bore?”
- “Is this feature fully dimensioned?”
- “What does this GD&T frame mean?”

What Pen can see
- The page your comment is pinned on — all views and text on that page
- All comments and reviews on the drawing
- The review profile used for the AI Review
- The exact location of your pin, when you pinned the comment
What Pen can't see
- Other pages of the drawing
- Other drawings in your account
- External documents, CAD files, or 3D models
- Earlier drawing versions, unless the comment was carried over
Limits
- 20 questions per drawing, shared across all threads and users on that drawing.
- Pen replies in the same language as your question (English, German, Dutch, …).
- No extra cost — questions to Pen are included with your AI Review.
Pen assists engineering judgment, it doesn't replace it. Verify Pen's suggestions before adopting them into your drawing.
